A swarm of earthquakes has hit New Zealand over the past 24 hours, with 98 quakes recorded by GeoNet. The latest earthquake was a magnitude 2.7, which struck 70 km south-west of Waverley in the North Island at 4:11 pm. The quake was 83 km deep and was felt by thousands of people.
