Montero to Take Charge of Juventus for Final Two Games
After Allegri Sacking, Under-19 Coach to Lead Senior Team
May 19, 2024 (AP) - Juventus have announced that Paolo Montero will take charge of the senior team for the final two games of the season following the sacking of Massimiliano Allegri.
Montero, currently the coach of the club's Under-19 team, will lead the team in away matches against Bologna and at home against Lazio.
The Italian club made the announcement on Thursday after a disappointing performance in the Champions League, which saw them eliminated in the round of 16 by Porto.
Allegri had been under pressure for some time, with Juventus struggling in both the Serie A and the Champions League this season.
Juventus are currently fourth in the league, eight points behind leaders Napoli, and were knocked out of the Champions League by Porto on Tuesday.
Montero, a former Juventus player, has been in charge of the club's Under-19 team since 2021.
